Hempcrete
As part of Miller's Corner commitment to sustainability the benefits of hemp as a building material was a decision we made early on. It was inspired by Kevin McCloud's Grand Designs project at Swindon (UK) where 37 homes were built using hempcrete. Hempcrete is a natural building material made from mixing hemp hurd (core of hemp plant) and lime and water (sand sometimes used). It is environmentally friendly, sequesters CO2, an excellent insulator, non-hazardous, recyclable, pest resistant
To enable us to develop skills in building with hemp we invited the Australian Hemp Masonry Company to Miller's Corner to teach the fundamentals of hemp building,
